Such a Busy Time

Image
The time has just flown by. We have been out and about at our regular venues, the National Trust's Standen House, the Ashdown Forest Visitor Centre, the Edenbridge and Oxted Show, and the Tonbridge Lace and Threads Fair. We were blessed with perfect weather for our annual Dyeing Day in August, topped off with a batch with Madeline's rock cakes. And to top it all off this September we have celebrated our 30th Anniversary. Directly after the AGM we had a Pot Luck (and were we lucky, yum yum) Lunch to which we invited past and founder members.  Liz had made us a cake to celebrate!   And Linda and her husband made us a sheep, to which we all contributed 30g skeins of wool Shaun the Sheep showed off his woolly skeins in East Grinstead Library, together with a small exhibition of work - organized by Phyllis and Anne. We further celebrated with a Spin in Public Day with our new friend Shaun the Sheep, by the East Grinstead Bookshop in the High Street where we were able to keep an eye...

We are out and about!!

Our group had a picnic on the forest in the first week of July, we were all so excited at meeting up again that none of us remembered to take photos. But we all enjoyed ourselves. On Saturday 10th July, Laura and Linda ventured over to Withyham to represent us at our first outside event since the start of the pandemic.      Withyham Village Fete is an annual joyful event where local people and businesses come together to celebrate summer with Maypole dancing, a dog show, races for the children, a band, stalls, raffles, etc., which makes it a fun day for all who attend. We put on a display of spinning and weaving.   We also had a display of items made by members of the group, and information about our Guild. The organizers provided a gazebo so we were protected from the rain, which came down in stair rods!, so a lovely day was had by all. Hopefully, we will be able to attend next year and the sun will shine.
